We understand that many people will come to the Posada simply to relax for a few days or weeks. However, many more will come wanting to get to know the countryside, the villages and the surrounding nature, and we feel the best way to do this is to get out and walk amongst it. For this reason we've designed a few different ways to help you do just that…..

Independent walking

This way you walk where you want, when you want - and as much you want. We sell a range of local walking maps including the 1:25,000 topographic series. We'll offer you advice about where to go and how to get there and you'll be free to consult our selection of local guide books and trail maps.

We also stock copies of the excellent new walking guidebook, "Sierra de Aracena - A walk!". The book is priced at GBP 11.99 and the accompanying walking map is GBP 2.99. Published in the UK, it is a far better walking guide for the area than anything yet produced - and that includes even those published in Spanish! You can obtain a copy before you travel by ordering directly from the publisher, Discovery Walking Guides; http://www.dwgwalking.co.uk/sierradearacena.htm. Users of handheld GPS should note the publishers also sell a CD of 'GPS Personal Navigator Files'. These offer GPS waymarks for all the walking routes and claim an accuracy of up to 5 metres!

Self-Guided Walking Tours

Ideal for individuals, couples and small groups of friends looking for a comprehensive introduction to the Sierra de Aracena. Our inclusive walking tours include all accommodation and all transport (including transfers to and from Seville) avoiding the need for costly car hire. The itineraries are designed so you get the very most from the Sierra in the time available. These carefully planned itineraries are designed not only to include some of the area's most scenic trails, but also to introduce you to some of the prettier and more interesting villages in the Sierra. It's also possible to add one or more nights in Seville at the end of your trip. Just let us know and we'll make the arrangements.

Activity Based Group Tours

The trip involves four nights based at the Posada del Castaño and three nights in the historic Portuguese town of Mertola, situated in the Guadiana Valley Natural Park.

Activities in the Sierra de Aracena include walking and cycling while in Mertola we include local walks in the Natural park and an excellent canoeing excursion down the Guadiana river. The maximum group size is 16 and the tour can be booked with, or without, international flights from the UK.
